How do I treat greywater for landscape irrigation?

The method chosen to treat greywater for use in landscape irrigation is generally dictated by the type of emitter being used. The most effective and thus most common type of greywater irrigation system utilizes drip irrigation to distribute greywater to your landscape. Because of their small size, all debris must be filtered from the water before it enters the drip irrigation system.

What should I look for when shopping for a greywater filter for landscape irrigation?

  • The filter is built specifically for use with a drip irrigation system
  • Filtration offered relies on a multiple stage system
  • The filter mechanism is water tight (so that no debris slips by)
  • The filtration system is heavy duty (we recommend this because this system is being used every day and with that kind of use you will want to make sure you choose a product that will last)
  • Check and make sure that the maintenance window on the filter is one that will work for you.
